This year my entry for the Wedding Cake category was something quite different from me. Five tiers in black and white with a contrasting turquoise! As well as over 800 mini roses (again!! What was I thinking?!) and a tier full of ruffles, I tried my hand at piping with royal icing. It was sooo much more difficult than it looked.
Definitely more practice needed but I'm more than happy with my bronze award.

Last year I entered the Wedding Cake category and I'm thrilled to tell you that I won a silver award!!
My 5 tier pastels, gold and 800 (!) mini roses impressed the judges enough that they thought I deserved a silver but after getting feedback from the judges, I was apparently only a few points away from a gold. Must try harder next time!!

It's Cake International time again!
As Cake International London fast approaches, chaos is now building up in SB HQ. I'll be spending the next three weeks prepping, making, rolling and frilling in my bid to impress the judges. No doubt there will be a vast amount of tantrums, late nights, tears (and swearing!) and fondant throwing too! That's on top of the day job too! Eeek!
Unfortunately I am not allowed to show any progress pictures, but I'll show you the end result as soon as I possibly can!
CAKE INTERNATIONAL, EXCEL, LONDON 2014
I am absolutely thrilled to tell you that I won a silver medal at Cake International, which was held in the ExCel centre, London in April 2014.
I entered the "Decorative Exhibit" section and here is what I made. I call it the "Torso of Romance". I absolutely love it and had so much fun making it. It certainly helped me to gain new skills and it definitely pushed me like no other project has pushed me (yet!).
I am already thinking of my designs for next year's London Cake International and I cannot wait to show what I have made!
